Structure Your Success
Behavioral questions like "Tell me about a time you failed" are designed to predict your future performance based on past behavior. The STAR method is your best tool for these.
S - Situation
Describe the context of what happened. Keep it brief and focused.
T - Task
Explain the challenge or the task that needed to be completed.
A - Action
This is the most important part. Describe exactly what YOU did to address the situation. Use "I" statements, not "We".
R - Result
What happened in the end? Whenever possible, use metrics (e.g., "This resulted in 10% cost savings").
Practice your STAR stories for the most common behavioral questions to ensure you sound confident and concise during the real thing.
